Brot für die Welt
Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) is a German non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to fighting poverty, injustice, and hunger around the world. Founded in 1959 by the Protestant Church in Germany, it operates under the principles of solidarity, justice, and sustainability. Brot für die Welt supports development projects in over 90 countries, focusing on issues such as food security, education, health care, human rights, and environmental protection. Through advocacy, education, and fundraising activities, the organization works to empower marginalized communities and promote systemic change towards a more equitable and sustainable world.
Development Fund of Norway
The Development Fund (DF) is committed to the fight against hunger and poverty. Its vision is of a sustainable and equitable world. DF supports small farmers to stand stronger when climate change brings extreme weather and difficult conditions for cultivation. Every year, DF reaches out to half a million people in Africa, Asia and Central America. The Development Fund’s main goal in Malawi is to support small-scale farmers to achieve and sustain food security. This is done by combining sustainable farming, livestock and entrepreneurship and promoting agriculture policies that benefits poor farmers.
European Union in Malawi
According to the European Union's official website, the Union's purpose is to promote peace, establish a unified economic and monetary system, promote inclusion and combat discrimination, break down barriers to trade and borders, encourage technological and scientific developments, champion environmental protection, and, among others, promote goals like a competitive global market and social progress. So, put simply, the European Union is a coalition of 27 European countries, designed to tear down trade, economic and social barriers and promote flourishing in these areas.
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a UN agency dedicated to eradicating hunger worldwide. In Malawi, FAO focuses on improving agricultural productivity, food security, and disaster preparedness. They provide technical assistance, promote modern farming techniques, and support initiatives to enhance access to nutritious food. FAO also works on sustainable natural resource management to build resilience in rural communities. Their efforts aim to alleviate poverty and promote long-term economic growth in Malawi.
Government of Flanders
The Flemish government is the regional government of Flanders, a region in Belgium. In Malawi, Flemish government agencies often collaborate with local organizations and authorities to support development projects in areas such as healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture. These initiatives aim to improve living conditions and foster long-term socio-economic growth in Malawi. IM Swedish Development Partner
IM Swedish Development Partner is a Swedish organization focused on international development cooperation. In Malawi, IM works on various projects aimed at promoting sustainable development, improving healthcare, enhancing education, empowering communities, and fostering economic growth. Their efforts often involve collaborating with local stakeholders to address key challenges and create positive impact in the Southern Africa.
OXFAM
Oxfam is an international confederation of 20 independent charitable organizations focusing on the alleviation of global poverty, founded in 1942 and led by Oxfam International. It is a major nonprofit group with an extensive collection of operations. Around the globe, Oxfam works to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. Oxfam saves lives and helps rebuild livelihoods when crisis strikes. Oxfam campaigns so that the voices of the poor influence the local and global decisions that affect them. In all they do, Oxfam works with partner organizations and alongside vulnerable women and men to end the injustices that cause poverty.
Southern African Trust
The Southern Africa Trust is a regional organisation committed to social and economic justice in Southern Africa. In Malawi, it collaborates with local partners to empower marginalised groups, improve access to education and healthcare, and promote sustainable livelihoods. Through initiatives such as economic empowerment, advocacy, capacity building, and community development, the Trust works to reduce poverty and inequality while fostering inclusive development. United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
USAID is the one of the world's premier international development agencies and a catalytic actor driving development results. USAID's work promotes a path to recipient self-reliance and resilience. Its initiatives span a wide range of sectors including health, education, economic growth, democracy promotion, and environmental sustainability. USAID works in partnership with governments, civil society organisations, and the private sector to address global challenges and improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA)
The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA) is a non-governmental organisation based in Zimbabwe that focuses on promoting environmental justice, sustainable and equitable use of natural resources, and the protection of environmental rights. ZELA engages in legal advocacy, research, capacity building, and public awareness campaigns to address environmental issues such as mining, land degradation, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. It works towards ensuring that environmental laws and policies are effectively implemented and that communities have a voice in decision-making processes related to natural resource management. ZELA also collaborates with government agencies, civil society organisations, and international partners to advance its objectives and advocate for environmental protection and social justice in Zimbabwe.
