Publish What You Pay

Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Malawi is a coalition of local and international civil society organizations (CSOs) that is campaigning for a transparent and accountable extractive sector in Malawi. The coalition was set up in 2015 and operates under the umbrella of the Natural Resource Justice Network (NRJN) where it coordinates and implements activities under the network’s revenue transparency thematic area.

PWYP Malawi received receives support from Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa (OSISA) to implement the Enhancing Revenue Transparency and Accountability in Malawi Project. The goal of the project is enhanced participation of citizens in EI governance in Malawi. This is achieved through promoting a transparent and accountable EI sector that promotes responsible socio-economic and environmental management of EI sector.

Our work in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative has helped to directly contribute to promoting the PWYP transparency and accountability agenda. The project has helped shape effective implementation of EITI in Malawi and has enabled Malawian civil actors to follow the money accruing from the extractive sector.
